Security Update
The security situation in the Black Sea remains volatile. UAV and missile attacks have continued against ports, shipping and associated infrastructure in the north-western Black Sea, including reported strikes on vessels in and around Odesa, Chornomorsk and Mykolaiv. Port, fuel and logistics facilities supporting regional maritime trade continue to be affected, creating an elevated risk to vessels operating in the vicinity of affected ports.
Elsewhere, attacks affecting maritime and port infrastructure have been reported across both the eastern Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, highlighting the geographic spread of the threat environment beyond the north-western Black Sea.
In addition to the direct threat from missile, UAV and USV activity, drifting hazards remain a concern. Recent reporting identifies a significant increase in discoveries of unexploded ordnance, UAVs and USVs across the Black Sea, particularly in the western part of the basin. Vessels should exercise caution when encountering unidentified floating objects and avoid close approach or recovery attempts.
