Situation in Iran and Middle East Region

This page is intended to provide Members with updates, details and links to the latest alerts and advisories available from the Club and other sources of intelligence.

Security Update

The security environment across the Middle East remains elevated, although direct kinetic activity in and around the Strait of Hormuz has reduced compared with earlier periods. However, recent incidents in the Red Sea demonstrate that commercial shipping continues to face threats from regional instability. Recent attacks have reportedly involved vessels with Saudi links, consistent with previous Houthi threats directed towards Saudi interests.

Continued targeting of energy and port infrastructure highlights the potential for regional tensions to impact maritime trade beyond vessels transiting the area. Whilst the current focus remains on the Red Sea, the security situation across the wider region remains dynamic and capable of deteriorating with little warning.

Members considering calls or transits in the region should continue to undertake voyage-specific threat assessments, maintain close liaison with local agents and security advisers, monitor relevant security advisories, and ensure crews fully comply with the instructions of military and maritime security authorities where applicable. The Club will continue to monitor developments and provide further updates as necessary.
