Situation in Iran and Middle East Region

This page is intended to provide Members with updates, details and links to the latest alerts and advisories available from the Club and other sources of intelligence.

Recent Activity

Recent attacks against commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, continued IRGC hailing, surveillance and UAS activity, together with heightened tensions between the United States and Iran, have contributed to a deterioration in the regional security environment. The latest JMIC Advisory Note has increased the assessed threat level within the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters to SEVERE.

Commercial traffic continues to transit the region, but vessels considering a transit should undertake a voyage-specific risk assessment, ensure compliance with BMP and other applicable industry guidance, maintain reporting to UKMTO and relevant authorities, review ship security and emergency procedures, and closely monitor the latest security advisories throughout the passage.
