Situation in Iran and Middle East Region

This page is intended to provide Members with updates, details and links to the latest alerts and advisories available from the Club and other sources of intelligence.

Security Update

Maritime security risks across the Middle East remain elevated. While discussions regarding commercial transit through the Strait of Hormuz continue, the security situation remains volatile and subject to rapid change.

Recent days have seen an increase in reported security incidents involving commercial shipping in and around the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman, including attacks resulting in vessel damage, aborted transits, and interactions between merchant vessels and military forces. These incidents highlight the continuing volatility of the regional operating environment.

Risks also remain elevated in the Red Sea and Bab el Mandeb, where attacks against Saudi-linked shipping and regional infrastructure have continued. Owners and operators should continue to monitor developments closely, review routing and contingency plans, and consider obtaining voyage-specific advice before transiting affected areas.
