The current outbreak of hostilities involving Iran and the Middle East region has already had an immediate impact upon shipping and given rise to increased maritime security threat.
In recognition of this elevation in risk, Marine Media Enterprises (MME) have agreed to make the full version of their video on Maritime Security freely available to all Steamship Mutual Members for use on their vessels to provide support to their crew by reinforcing practical awareness and the value of preparedness at sea.
This Maritime Security video is designed to help crews and shore teams think clearly about security threats in a structured way, encouraging vigilance, timely reporting and consistent onboard routines that reduce exposure to avoidable risk. While every voyage and operating area is different, strong fundamentals remain the same: understand the risk context, maintain situational awareness and ensure the ship and crew are ready to respond appropriately.
The Club encourages Members to use this resource as a refresher for shipboard briefings and toolbox talks, and as a prompt to review voyage specific security arrangements where relevant.
