The Tokyo Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control (Tokyo MOU) has published its Annual Report 2025, providing an overview of Port State Control activity across the Asia Pacific region, including inspection trends, detention statistics and regulatory developments.
The report identifies fire safety, life saving appliances, working and living conditions, safety of navigation, maintenance standards and ISM related deficiencies as recurring areas of concern.
It also highlights issues relating to ballast water management compliance and the operation and maintenance of ballast water management systems. Members may wish to review the findings and consider whether any lessons learned can be incorporated into their safety management systems, maintenance programmes and onboard procedures to help reduce the risk of deficiencies during Port State Control inspections.
