The U.S. Department of Transportation Maritime Administration (MARAD)  has recently published U.S. Maritime Advisory 2025-012, which outlines critical security guidance for commercial vessels operating in high-risk waters including the Red Sea, Bab el Mandeb Strait, Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, Persian Gulf, and Somali Basin.

The advisory highlights the escalating threat posed by Houthi forces to Vessels with an Israeli, U.S., or UK association, and includes details of recent attacks on commercial vessels and updated recommendations for vessel operations, AIS usage, and coordination with maritime security authorities.

This advisory supersedes Advisory 2025-005 and remains in effect until 26 March 2026.

The Club would encourage Member’s and vessel Masters to review the advisory in full and incorporate its guidance into voyage planning and onboard security protocols.
