Information Notices

Published: June 12, 2026

Members’ attention is drawn to Transport Canada's Interim Order No. 4 Respecting the Discharge of Sewage and the Release of Greywater by Cruise Ships in Canadian Waters, which came into force on 10 June 2026.

The Interim Order sets out Canada's wastewater discharge requirements for cruise ships operating in Canadian waters. These include restrictions on the discharge of sewage and the release of greywater within 3 nautical miles of shore, together with treatment standards that are additional to those contained in MARPOL Annex IV.

Members operating cruise ships in Canadian waters are advised to review the Interim Order and ensure that the relevant requirements are brought to the attention of Masters and shore based personnel to support compliance and voyage planning.

For updates and further information, Members are advised to seek guidance from their local agent or the Club's correspondent, who will be able to provide the most current information available locally and advise of any changes that may affect operations when intending to trade in Canadian waters.
