A successful Port State Control (PSC) inspection is often regarded as confirmation that a vessel complies with applicable international requirements. However, the value of a PSC inspection extends well beyond the inspection itself.
PSC findings can offer useful insight into a vessel’s condition, the effectiveness of maintenance and onboard management systems, and the practical implementation of safety procedures. Recurring deficiencies and inspection trends may also help identify underlying issues before they result in incidents, operational disruption or claims.
