Club correspondents Independent Maritime Consulting have provided a useful guide as to what happens during a US Coast Guard investigation focusing on the rights and obligations of shipowners and employees. IMC’s Circular  of June 2020 contains sections on When information must be divulged to the Coast Guard or other Federal or State agencies; potential fines and your rights during an investigation.

Each incident or investigation will of course depend on its own merits, so this guide may not cover all situations. You are welcome of course to approach your usual contact at the Club for further information.
