Drug smuggling is an issue of significant concern within Colombia, and with this in mind our Club Correspondents Pandi Colombia “Precautionary Anti-narcotics Guidelines” and A&A multiprime “Colombia Drug Smuggling Report 2024” have provided some invaluable loss prevention guidance for Members whose vessels are engaged in trading to ports in Colombia.
Members with vessels trading to Colombia are advised to refer to the "Precautionary Anti-Narcotics Guidelines" and "Drug Prevention Report 2024" to best protect their interests in regard to drug smuggling at Colombian ports and are reminded that the Club has previously issued Risk Alert 106 “Drug Smuggling and Preventive Measures” which provides detailed guidance on the subject.
In addition, as a part of the Donate & Train library, Marine Media Enterprises (MME) in collaboration with the Managers have produced a video “Drug Smuggling at Sea” Whilst this programme does not specifically focus on drug smuggling from Colombia the scope is sufficiently broad as to be relevant. In their endeavours to further raise awareness as to challenges that seafarers may face if trading to Colombia and other areas where drug smuggling may an issue, the Managers and MME have agreed to make this video freely available. Members are actively encouraged to have this programme available on their vessels and bring it to the attention of the staff onboard.
