With thanks to UKMTO the Club would like to bring to the attention of Members UKMTO Advisory 006-25 dated 10th March 2025 which highlights corroborated reports from vessels experiencing GPS interference in the Strait of Hormuz.

Members should give consideration to this information for navigation planning purposes and implement appropriate mitigating measures to ensure safety of navigation in the event of possible failure or loss of GPS Satellite signal reception.  The Master and watchkeeping officers should be thoroughly familiar with alternative means of plotting and monitoring their vessel’s position, keeping in mind the potential limitations of their vessel’s navigational equipment.

Masters who experience disruption to electronic navigation systems anywhere within the UKMTO Voluntary Reporting Area (VRA) are requested to contact UKMTO watchkeepers via [email protected] or 02392 222065.
