La Coruña - New Requirements For Oil Tankers

With effect from 13 November 2003 there is a new procedure for oil tankers entering or anchoring at La Coruña.

In compliance with:

1. Regulation (EC) no 1726/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 July 2003 amending Regulation (EC) No 417/2002 on the accelerated phasing-in of double-hull or equivalent design requirements for single-hull oil tankers and

2. The Civil Liability Convention

The Harbour Master of La Coruña has modified local procedure for the entrance of Oil Tankers in La Coruña.

Oil Tankers are now required to fax the following documents 24 hours before entering La Coruña Port:

  • International Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate and complete annex
  • Name of the product carried (type and grade of oil)
  • Vessel Insurance Certificate for oil pollution
