US-Russia Sanctions – potential vessel restrictions

In response to the current conflict in Ukraine, legislation has been proposed in the United States which, if passed, would:
    i. Prohibit “Russian vessels” from operating in US waters;
    ii. Enable the US Coast Guard to seize “Russian yachts and commercial vessels” within US territorial waters, including Russian-owned or controlled which might be flying flags of convenience.

This is similar to restrictions applied by the UK government, and restrictions which are likely to come into effect shortly in the EU.
