The Ship Safety Trust DVD
In 1992 the Managers established The Ship Safety Trust to promote safer ships and the prevention of loss of life at sea. As ship operators face mounting and ever changing operational pressures, compounded by difficulties associated with the recruitment and retention of good quality crew, the need for effective loss prevention materials has grown. Since its foundation The Ship Safety Trust, drawing on the Club’s experience gathered from a century of service to the shipping industry, has produced a wide range of innovative and effective loss prevention materials to meet these objectives at no cost to the Club.
To mark the Club's centenary year, a film has been produced which describes the work of the Trust and highlights the important contribution that it has made to many areas of loss prevention and safety. The film can be streamed below, which features in order of appearance Edward Stourton (presenter) Stephen Martin and Chris Adams (Directors, SIMSL), Dr Karen Purnell (Managing Director, ITOPF), and Julian Parker (formerly of the Nautical Institute).
Members were provided with a complimentary copy of the DVD with circular B.489 of April 2009.
