Situation in Iran and Middle East Region
Members are advised of a material escalation in regional security risk following U.S. and Israeli airstrikes against Iranian targets. The situation has increased the likelihood of retaliatory or proxy actions, with potential consequences for commercial shipping operating in, or transiting, the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
This page is intended to provide Members with updates, details and links to the latest alerts and advisories available from the Club and other sources of intelligence.
External Sources
These external sources provide up to date information from recognised maritime security and industry experts. As the situation in regions remains fluid, members are encouraged to revisit these sources regularly for the latest updates. Where information is unclear or circumstances change at short notice, members should also seek guidance from their local agents and the Club’s local correspondents to ensure they have the most accurate and current advice before planning or undertaking any voyage.
Recent Activity
Maritime security conditions across the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman remained highly constrained, shaped by ongoing enforcement activity linked to the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports, a fragile U.S. Iran ceasefire, and the continued absence of fully developed regulatory guidelines. Iran has publicly warned that continued blockade enforcement could lead to renewed military action or wider disruption to regional shipping, contributing to severely suppressed Hormuz traffic amid military interaction, regulatory ambiguity, and persistent but unverified reporting of possible naval mine hazards in the vicinity of the IMO adopted traffic separation scheme in the Straits of Hormuz.
