The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has issued a new marine safety notice as a reminder of the obligation to provide safe pilot transfer arrangements. Although the notice was issued in Australia, it will be a useful reminder for all Members worldwide. The notice refers to the requirements in SOLAS V/23 the minimum standards for equipment installed

The IMO standards can be found in IMO Resolution A.1045(27) Pilot Transfer arrangements and IMO Resolution A.1108(29) Amendments to the Recommendations Pilot Transfer Arrangements (Resolution A.1045(27)).

Pilot Transfer arrangements are outlined in this 28 May 2012 document from the IMO which includes drawings of ladders; rigging arrangements; pilot ladder winch reels and scenarios to be aware of: http://solasv.mcga.gov.uk/msc/MSC-Circ1428.pdf
