The Gulf of Guinea can be a difficult place for vessels to trade. With this in mind a helpful new set of cards has been produced by the OCIMF Maritime Security Committee. These cards are designed for use on a ship to provide a quick reference during times of tension. The nine cards can be accessed here and the aspects covered are:

BMP West Africa

The Threat: Kidnapping of Crew, Hijacking of Vessels, Armed Robbery and Cargo Theft

Members are recommended to consult BMP West Africa - Best Management Practices to deter Piracy and Enhance Maritime Security off the coast of West Africa including the Gulf of Guinea. This includes information about risk assessment, planning, protection measures as well as emergency contact details and MDAT GoG reporting forms. It is a vital document and can be accessed here.
