The course 'Topical Issues Affecting the Shipping Industry' Residential Training Course for Members 2015, is being held at the Grand Harbour Hotel, Southampton, 15-20 June 2015.

Course outline:

Course Outline                 Day 1 Monday 15 June   Welcome from CEO and Directors of Steamship Insurance Management Services Limited (SIMSL)       Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME) and Crew Personal Injury            Day 2 Tuesday 16 June   The Boundaries of P&I         - Poolable and Non-poolable liabilities         - SIMSL Cover in respect of Collision Liabilities and workshop            Day 3 Wednesday 17 June   Various case studies discussing major casualties and workshop       Excess loss reinsurance and the operation of the London Market

The course will follow the same format of previous courses and in addition to topical P&I and claims handling issues will include:

  • A collision workshop using the bridge simulation facilities at Warsash Maritime Academy
  • A major casualty workshop
  • A workshop on claims covered at the discretion of the Club’s Directors.

Spaces are limited to 30 delegates and therefore, early application is recommended. Delegates will be expected to meet their own costs of travel to and from the U.K., and the cost of the hotel accommodation.

Rooms have been reserved for delegates at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London, Westminster (£185 plus VAT) for the night of 14 June, and the Grand Harbour Hotel, Southampton (£119 per night inclusive of VAT) from 15-20 June on a bed and breakfast basis.  There will also be a range of social activities on each evening of the course.

There will be no charge to delegates in respect of transport within the U.K., meals and social events during the course.
